Welcome to the RYSS Early College T-STEM & STEM Academy website!
I'm Noelia Longoria, and it's my privilege to serve as the Principal of this incredible school. I'm thrilled you're here to learn more about our vibrant community of learners and the exciting opportunities we offer.
My journey in education has been marked by a deep passion for fostering student success and creating environments where every student feels valued and empowered. I began my career in the Houston Independent School District (HISD) as an Assistant Principal at one of the largest high schools in East Houston. There, I successfully led efforts to improve academic performance, which ultimately led to my promotion as Principal of Ortiz Middle School.
At Ortiz, I focused on building a strong school culture and fostering high expectations for all students. We achieved remarkable growth in student achievement for three consecutive years, and the school was even recognized by the Broad Prize selection committee for its best practices!
I then served as Lead Principal for two additional campuses, ensuring both met state accountability standards. This experience solidified my belief in the power of collaborative leadership and data-driven decision-making to transform schools.
My commitment to educational equity led me to the role of Assistant Superintendent of School Choice for HISD. I oversaw the district's 118 Magnet programs and worked to make the application process more equitable and transparent for all students.
I even had the opportunity to serve as HISD's Interim Chief Academic Officer, leading the academic team for the largest school district in Texas! This role gave me a unique perspective on the complexities of managing a large educational system and ensuring that every student has access to a high-quality education.
These diverse experiences have equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and rewards of leading a school community. I'm committed to building strong partnerships with parents, teachers, and staff to ensure that our students at RYSS receive the best possible education.
